Isabel Webster was trading banter with her co-presenter as they discussed an upcoming package on a rare penny soon to become available to collectors. Eamonn Holmes asked Ms Webster whether she remembered when pennies were still legal tender, to which the GB News presenter explained she was born well after the new currency system was adopted. The response had Mr Holmes teasing Ms Webster about her appearance, resulting in the presenter telling her co-host “oh, f**k you” before she realised she was live on air.

Mr Holmes said: “Shortly, the perfect penny – we’ll explain why you might be interested in buying a stake in this one. Do you even remember penny?

“Not a decimal penny. A pound, shilling, and pence penny.”

Ms Webster replied: “Of course I don’t.”

The GB News host appeared confused by her answer, asking: “What do you mean of course you don’t? When were you born?”

His colleague said: “I’m not that old. [I was born in] ’82.”

Mr Holmes replied: “Oh, there were no pennies then. You’re quite right. They were all gone in the 1970s, ’71.”

The comment prompted Ms Webster to ask: “Do I look really old or something?”

He said: “Funny, you look much older.”

Ms Webster said: “Oh, f**k…sorry, sorry, sorry. I stopped myself. This is what happens when you work with Eamonn.”

Mr Homes later took to Twitter to apologise once more for the exchange.

He wrote: “If u saw us at 9.18 .. no need to explain. Oops @IsabelWebster the look says it all but she, indeed “we” apologise.

“Not that I have anything to apologise for but Sometimes we forget we are on air.

“I’ll be back tomorrow and hopefully Potty mouth Webster will be too.”
