Oti Mabuse has been a fan favourite of Strictly Come Dancing since she joined the show in 2015. She is joint with Aliona Vilani as the most successful professional dancer on the BBC show but her new role with The Masked Dancer has sparked fears she won’t be taking part when Strictly returns later this year.

The Masked Singer fans were overjoyed when ITV announced The Masked Dancer was set to start filming shortly.

Jonathan Ross, Davina McCall, Mo Gilligan will return to the judging panel but Oti will take Rita Ora’s spot.

The BBC has yet to confirm which professional dancers will be a part of Strictly 2021 and there have reportedly been concerns over Oti’s intentions to stay.

A source claimed: “Oti has been inundated with offers. Her profile has really blown up since she joined Strictly and she has had ideas pitched from a number of major channels.

“The BBC are now growing increasingly worried that her time on Strictly is numbered.

“She is really passionate about her dance school and is batting off TV offers left right and centre.

“Throw the commitment of The Masked Dancer into the mix and suddenly her year might look quite different, as Strictly is a big undertaking. Producers fear she’s outgrown the show.”

The source told The Sun that Oti has yet to sign up to Strictly this year and the possibility that she won’t have made people behind the scenes “uneasy”.

“Even if she does, it means it could be her final year,” the source added.

“They’d rather lock her down for this year at least — and beyond if they can.”

Oti joined Strictly six years ago and has gone to have huge success with her celebrity partners.

During her second year on the show, Oti and Danny Mac were crowned runners-up.

She lifted her first Glitterball Trophy in 2019 with Kelvin Fletcher before winning the show again with Bill Bailey last year.

In other Strictly news, Death in Paradise star Ralf Little teased fans he could be ready to sign up to the dancing competition.

The actor revealed he has been approached by several reality shows in the past and shared: “I’ve been asked to do all of them every year.

“That’s normal. I mean everyone gets offered, everyone gets approached to find out if they would be interested. That’s it.

“And that’s more common than you think because they’re always looking for new people who haven’t done it. So to be asked is not that unusual.”

On whether he would ever agree to a reality show, Ralf coyly teased his fans.

“Again, never say never! I think that it’s very easy to be dismissive of things,” he told Hello! Magazine.

“I think, people who participate in Strictly and do well in Strictly, they’re learning a real skill, an art form, and there’s something really rewarding about that.”

Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One later this year.
