As new photos emerge and a release date finally announced by Netflix, Outer Banks fans won’t have to wait much longer to discover the fates of their favourite characters. Viewers are eager to find out what happens next and the latest promo trailer may have given audiences a hint of what’s to come.
Fans will be ecstatic at the announcement that Netflix has finally revealed the release date for Outer Banks’ highly-anticipated second season.
The series will be returning to the streaming service on Friday, July 30.
Netflix previously released a bunch of first-look photos from the upcoming season, and a new first-look promo trailer has been released as well.
The promo appears to reveal the fates of John B (played by Chase Stokes) and his love interest Sarah (Madelyn Cline).
The teen drama, which follows the lives of John B and his friends as they work together to find hidden treasure, ended with a shocking cliffhanger at the end of season one.
The dramatic end saw series leads John B and Sarah presumed dead by their friends after the pair’s boat capsized in a storm.
However, the two were rescued by a passing cargo ship and were last seen on their way to Nassau in The Bahamas to recover the hidden treasure.
In the latest promo, John B’s fellow Pogues, Kie (Madison Bailey), Pope (Jonathan Daviss), and JJ (Rudy Pankow), are inscribing his name on a tree and mourning their friend’s passing.
JJ raises a drink to his best friend John B, with Kie adding: “And Sarah.”
However, the trailer then cuts to John B and Sarah on a beach in The Bahamas looking better than ever.
John B turns to Sarah and says to her excitedly: “Back in the G game baby.”
Judging by the latest trailer, the two appear to be running for their lives so what sort of trouble have they found themselves in?
As their friends continue to believe the pair are dead, John B and Sarah are alone on the tropical island without their friend’s support or help.
How will the group react when they discover that John B and Sarah have been alive on the island this entire time?
JJ puts his fists through a wall in the promo so could this be a hint that he and the Pogues are angry at John B for letting them believe they were dead for so long?
Some fans certainly think so, with many commenting on YouTube that the reveal will be hard for the group to swallow, especially as John B and Sarah have been completely fine the entire time.
One fan wrote: “So everyone is mourning John B and Sarah but they really be chilling at the beach in the Bahamas.”
Another said: “They really think they died, while they living their best live Lmao.” (sic)
A reunion between the Pogues is not the only thing viewers have to look forward to as Lost’s Elizabeth Mitchell has joined the show in a recurring role, as has Carlacia Grant in a yet undisclosed role.
Co-creators and executive producers Josh Pate, Jonas Pate, and Shannon Burke told TV Line that the group will struggle immensely and be tested “like never before”.
They also revealed that season two will enhance everything “fans loved about Season 1”.
They continued by promising that season two will have “more mystery, more romance and higher stakes”.
“It’s a full-throttle, action-packed adventure,” they concluded.
Season 1 of Outer Banks is available to watch on Netflix now.
