PHILIP Schofield has a smoking hot night out – as he puffs on a cigarette after a meal with pals.

Telly favourite Phil, 58, was spotted smoking and chatting to friends outside a Chinese eaterie in Richmond, south-west London.

His outing came after the release of his bombshell book Life’s What You Make of It which detailed his dramatic revelation that he was gay last February.

A source who spotted the This Morning host – previously seen using vaping machines – said: “Phil looked happy and relaxed – like he was having a whale of a time.

“He was outside for most of the evening and was smoking and chatting and laughing with various friends.

“It was good to see him letting his hair down after what he has been through – and to see him letting off steam.”

Phil told in this autobiography how he had a meltdown on the way to ITV and – on another occasion – dashed off screen to be sick as his gay secret overwhelmed him.

The Dad of two, who has now separated from wife Stephanie, said he became “increasingly aware” he was gay in the past five years.

In the book, he wrote of his meltdowns: “It was the first time my issues spilled over into work.

“Another day I had to leave a fashion item to be sick. I knew I needed professional help.”

Phil – who was supported by TV pal Holly Willoughby, 39 – expected a “wave of hatred” after coming out on TV and in a Sun on Sunday interview.

Instead the public reaction was supportive.
