The 56-year-old was featured on Monday's entertainment section where Good Morning Britain's showbiz correspondent Richard Arnold shared the news.

Richard said: “It’s set to be a clash of the titans at this year’s TRIC Awards, as Good Morning Britain’s very own Susanna Reid goes up against her old adversary in bants Piers Morgan in the News Presenter category.”

The awards ceremony is set to take place this September where it will celebrate the nation's top TV, broadcasting, radio and online.

Piers left the breakfast show in March after he clashed with weatherman Alex Beresford over Meghan Markle's Oprah interview.

The on-air incident received 57,000 complaints from Ofcom including one from the Duchess of Sussex herself.

Susanna previously admitted she was “angry” at Piers for quitting GMB and gave him a “frosty” goodbye on the show.

However, their friendship is said to be back on track with Piers revealing: "I hope we stay friends because Susanna's a decent person and we've been through a lot together."

He also said that Susanna had called him to “clear the air”, and apologised over her on-air tone.

Piers added: "She apologised for the tone of her chilly goodbye, which was for all the reasons I suspected, and I apologised for leaving her in the lurch so suddenly.

"It was a good conversation, and we agreed that when the dust settles, we'll have a long lunch to celebrate five extraordinary years."

Since Piers left the show, fans have been pining for him to return, though he has been replaced by a number of different co-stars.

Susanna has been joined by the likes of Richard Madeley, Adil Ray, Martin Lewis and even her old BBC Breakfast co-host Bill Turnbull.

Meanwhile, Piers has been back on television with more episodes of his Life Stories series.
