Scottish BBC reporter’s perfect reply when he’s told to ‘speak proper English’

A Scottish BBC TV news reporter had the prefect response to a Twitter troll who told him to "speak proper accented English".

Glaswegian Martin Patience put the troll firmly in his place after he complained to TV chiefs at BBCWorld that the Scot's accent wasn't clear and that he should “speak more middle class".

The BBC’s Middle East Correspondent replied: “Look pal, in Glasgow I’m considered posh”, the Daily Record reports.

Martin hit back after irate Twitter user took to the social media site to moan about the fact the reporter was difficult to understand.

He said Martin should “speak better accented English”.

However scores of furious Twitter users backed Martin and his accent.

One tweeted “Sorry. Can ye say ah’t again, a bit mair slowly and louder. Canna mak oot a thing yer sayin’ min.”
