EastEnders star Adam Woodyatt has teased what’s ahead for Ian Beale when the beloved soap returns later this year.
Last we saw Ian, he used his never-ending pile of cash to purchase the Queen Vic for best mate Sharon Watts.
However, in spite of the iconic ending of the last pre-lockdown episode — which we’ve all watched a hundred times by now, let’s be real — purchasing the boozer might provide Ian with a lot of problems.
Speaking about what’s to come, Adam said: ‘he’s done it [purchased the Vic] out of guilt.
‘There’s probably going to be financial ramifications, obviously with lockdown.
‘Any money Ian thought he had to buy the Vic, he’s obviously not going to have as much of going forward.
Stacey asked if lockdown was going to figure into the narrative when the writers write the upcoming storylines, and Adam suggested it would.
He said: ‘I’ve had that hinted. There’s so much uncertainty, we just don’t know.
‘So, I think it’s going to be that way with our scripts [going forward], we’re not actually going to know.
‘It is to some degree going to have to evolve as it’s going along. ‘
EastEnders: Secrets From The Square continues next Monday at 8pm on BBC One. The Sharongate episode will be re-shown tomorrow at 7:30pm on BBC One.
