Gray Atkins (Toby Alexander-Smith) is close to the edge as his guilt over the murder of his wife Chantelle weights heavily on him in EastEnders – but as he tries to maintain normality and get back to work by attending Whitney Dean’s (Shona McGarty) court hearing, he has had the bad news that it clashes with Chantelle’s funeral.
It’s an extremely difficult day for Karen Taylor (Lorraine Stanley), Mitch Baker (Roger Griffiths) and the rest of the family as the time comes to say a painful goodbye.
As they gather to pay their respects, Whitney urges Gray to attend the funeral, even though it’s clear the prospect of facing court alone terrifies him.
She tells him that he needs to say goodbye to his wife and be there for his kids, little knowing the darkness of the situation he is hiding.
As Whitney heads to the courtroom ahead of her trial, will Gray show up and support her? And if so does that mean he will abandon Chantelle’s funeral?
If so, it will undoubtedly raise questions.
Will Mitch and Karen be able to get their heads around Chantelle’s own husband not turning up if he opts to go to court?
