Former Strictly Come Dancing star Stacey Dooley, 34, will be competing on the celebrity edition of the Great British Bake Off next Tuesday but it seems she’s keen to erase the experience from her memory. Appearing on This Morning, hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby wanted to know how she found the competition but Stacey didn’t appear to happy about her time in the Bake Off tent.
“You seem completely and absolutely unprepared,” Phillip said of her appearance on Bake Off.
Covering her eyes with her hands, Stacey replied: “Phil! Do you know I am so mortified this is ever going to see the light of day.
“It’s one of those gigs where you say, ‘It’s for charity, I’d love to do it, thanks ever so much for thinking of me.’
“The minute I walked into that tent, I won’t give too much away but you know you do your conclusive interview at the end?
“The producer looked at me and went, ‘Stacey, I won’t insult your intelligence and ask how well you think you have done.’”
As Holly and Phillip burst out laughing, the TV presenter covered her face in embarrassment once more.
“Didn’t you cook with Kevin in lockdown?” Phillip asked. “Everybody else baked through lockdown.”
Stacey commented: “Well this is it. The whole of the UK baked through lockdown except for me clearly.”
“It’s one calamity after the other. I was hoping we would lose some of the rushes!”
Reflecting on her move into a new home with partner Kevin Clifton, 38, during lockdown, Stacey remarked: “I feel so lucky to have him.
“I am so mindful people had to do lockdown alone. He’s upstairs on another Zoom, you know how it is.”

This is MY House BBC: Who is on the celebrity panel? [CAST]
Stacey will be on television screens on Wednesday evening as she presented her new BBC series This is MY House.
The series sees a panel of celebrity judges try to work out which of the four contestants a house belongs to.
The real home owner will battle it out with three intruders to convinced the celebrity panel the property belongs to them.
Commenting on the series, Stacey explained it “breaks boundaries”.
“This is the first time I have done a pure entertainment show, I just feel there is such an appetite for total escapism at the moment,” she said.
“We’ve all had such a hellish time and everyone has had such an unbearable year, and this show is just such a laugh.”
“You find yourself playing along, everyone has those unconscious biases, and you’re trying to suss everyone out which is really fun.”
This Morning airs weekdays on ITV at 10am.
