The latest video footage of Anton and Emma training for the first Strictly Come Dancing shows the professional praising the actress’ dancing abilities. But while Anton is thrilled with his partner, it may not mean good news for the pair on the dance floor.

After being partnered with Emma, Anton joked he may have a chance of winning as he’s never won since the show began in 2004.

However, according to the latest bookmakers odds, Anton and Emma aren’t quite the hot favourites to win.

In fact, it seems the favourite to win is Karim Zeroul who has odds of 7-2.

“Karim is the hot favourite and we have him top of our betting. He should take a lot of beating and has all the ingredients to be a Strictly Winner,” said Coral’s Harry Aitkenhead.

Although Emma and Alex Scott have been popular, Karim has remained the bookies favourite to win two weeks in a row.

This means Anton’s dream of holding the Glitterball Trophy may be crushed unless he and Emma really wow the viewers to secure those votes.

Emma is the second favourite to win, facing the odds of 4-1 but all that can change as the odds run close to Alex Scott’s scores of 5-1.

Coral’s Aitkenhead added: “Emma and Alex have both been popular with punters and they lead the way for the girls, whilst last minute replacement Kelvin Fletcher is also a strong contender.”

Could this mean Anton and Emma will lose, returning him back to his bad luck of of dancing partners?

Last year, he was the first to be knocked out the competition after partnering with Susannah Constantine.

Although fans on Twitter have been loving this new partnership so Blackpool may seem a step closer than usual.

But Anton’s fate can change and fans will only know until the live shows kick off.

Unlike Anton, the hopes and dreams for some like David James may have already faded as he is Coral’s favourite to be eliminated followed by Mike Bushell and James Cracknell.

“The odds spell bad news for David James who is the favourite to be sent packing first, whilst James and Mike will also need to deliver strong performances to avoid an early exit,” added Aitkenhead.

Last week’s star-studded instalment saw David James partnered up with professional Nadiya Bychkova with the former footballer admitting he was thrilled to have her as his coach for the series.

The former England player admitted that he wasn’t going to go on the show until his friend convinced him that there was more to it than a bunch of celebrities dancing.

A week ago, Ladbrokes gave him the odds of 66/1 of winning and that number remains the same for Coral this week.

Meanwhile those who have a good chance of winning after Karim include Emma, Alex, Kelvin Fletcher, Catherine Tyldesley and Saffron Barker.

Fans fortunately don’t have too much longer to wait to see the celebs dancing for the first time.

The Strictly Come Dancing 2019 live shows kick off Saturday, September 21 on BBC One.
