As the winter nights draw in, ITV viewers are preparing for the latest series of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! The line-up is yet to be confirmed but reports have suggested Strictly Come Dancing judge Dame Arlene could be the oldest contestant to take part.

Boris Johnson’s father Stanley was the oldest contestant to appear on I’m A Celebrity when he signed up in 2017.

However, at 78, Dame Arlene could take his crown as she is rumoured to be heading to Wales for the 2021 series.

The former Strictly judge could be getting cosy in the castle with fellow celebrities and is said to be “unfazed” by the conditions she could face.

Will she whip her fellow campmates into shape and show them how to Foxtrot to keep warm?

“Arlene is strong and tough and her energy is boundless,” a source detailed to Mirror Online.

“No doubt she’ll have the group dancing around the campfire in a bid to beat the cold and keep morale high. Should be fun.”

It won’t be too much of a surprise if Dame Arlene does appear as she previously shared her interest in trying new challenges.

The choreographer explained: “I now want to do things that are totally out of my comfort zone.”

Dame Arlene isn’t the only star rumoured to be on this year’s line-up with EastEnders actor Jake Wood tipped to head to the castle.

He is set to finish his current run on the West End in October leaving time for him to head to Wales.

Speaking on Good Morning Britain, he teased: “Yes, I finish in mid October and I’ve made no secret about it, I’d love to do the jungle.”

Meanwhile, Great British Bake Off star Nadiya Hussain expressed her regret over not signing up for the 2020 series.

She told The Guardian: “I got asked to do I’m a Celebrity this year, and a bit of me regrets not doing it.

“It’s just so cold in Wales: if I’m going to have cockroaches in my pants I’d rather it be in the sun, thanks.

“Still, I can’t help wondering what it would have been like.”

ITV fans are keen to see Piers Morgan swap breakfast TV for critters but the controversial host shut down the speculation.

Writing in his column for Mail Online, he stated: “Let me make one thing crystal clear: there’s no way I’m ever exposing myself to a series of ghastly gastronomic humiliations for the delectation of the British public.

“When I munch kangaroo testicles, I do so in the privacy of my home.”

Preparations for the new series are currently underway in Wales with just a few weeks to go until the line-up is confirmed.

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! airs later this year.
