Will Mellor appears to be ready to return to the Strictly Come Dancing stage with his professional dance partner Nancy Xu after worrying fans over his health.

The soap star, 46, took to his Instagram on Friday to share with his 372,000 followers that he's been battling an illness recently and while he attended dance training on Monday, he was forced to head back home.

While he's since been spotted looking run down and coughing, the official Strictly Instagram page has now shared a photo of him with 31 year old Nancy, ready to perform tonight.

The snap sees Will dressed in a transparent navy blue shirt as Nancy looks stunning in a yellow dress with silver detailing.

The pair both smile for the camera in the picture, which was playfully captioned: "Where there’s a Will there’s a wahey @nancy_xuxi @willmellor76 #Strictly," followed by a celebration emoji.

Fans of the show were left delighted, but equally cautious by the news as one person commented: "Hope he's recovered and feels well enough to do this. Go on Will," followed by a bicep emoji.

Another shared: "Yay so happy he giving a go and fighting fit after not feeling well," alongside a pink heart emoji.

"wishing you all the healing and well wishes William. You’ve got this mate." another posted with three fingers crossed emojis, two kissing emojis and a thumbs up emoji.

While a fourth added: "Hope your well enough Will x".

In the video shared on his Instagram the day before, Will told his fans: "First of all, I want to apologise for the way I sound, I have not been well at all this week.

"I went into training Monday and I just had to go home because I was feeling poorly and I've been laid up ever since."

Will, who recently said his dancer wife "gives him notes" on his performances, continued: "I got a bug, virus, whatever you want to call it and I was aching all over, it's horrible. If you've got it out there, I feel your pain because a lot of it is going around this time of year, these flu variants.

"I've just done Strictly It Takes Two and a lot of people have been commenting saying 'You sound really poorly,' so I wanted to just say thanks for your comments but I probably sound worse than I am because I've coughed my throat out.

"But yeah, I went into training for the first time today just to do a couple of hours because I've got to perform on Saturday night live so let's just hope I can get through it."

Remaining optimistic about his upcoming live performance with partner Nancy, Will concluded his video by saying: "It's Ed Sheeran's Joker and The Queen that I'm doing this week and I love that song so I really want to do it justice. But we'll just have to see what I can do."
