The Cabins line-up – from Mark Wright lookalike to footballer blanked by Rihanna

Hopeless romantics will be hoping to kick off 2021 with a brand new relationship on ITV2’s new reality dating show The Cabins.

12 singletons are taking part in the new show which will see couples thrown together to shack up in a log cabin and get to know each other.

The couples will then, after 24 hours together, decide whether they want to pursue the relationship further.

Among the contestants are a Welsh binman looking for his first-ever long-term romance, a former air stewardess who hopes to find her first proper girlfriend, and a footballer who got blanked by Rihanna.

ITV has described the new series as “throwing out the rule book” on dating by plunging brand new couples into a romantic environment.

They stated: “From the moment they meet the couples immediately move in together, as their date begins in their very own exclusive log cabins, complete with simmering hot tubs and set in beautiful surroundings within the UK.

“Nestled together in their intimate cabins, the singletons will have quality time to really get to know their date.

“From heartfelt moments or declarations of love, to awkward silences and difficult dating conversations, viewers will be able to follow all the antics and find out if the sparks fly or quickly fizzle out.

“Having made it through the first 24 hours they then have to decide if they would like to spend more time together – or call it a day and walk away.”

Architecture student Abraham is one of the twelve contestants looking for love on the show.

The 21-year-old from East London says he has been unlucky-in-love but hopes to find Mrs Right in his log cabin – and he’s packed his guitar to try and woo her through music.

He said of his dating life up to now: “That department of my life has been extremely unfortunate. It would be nice to just relax and have someone to be my partner, my best friend, my girlfriend at the same time. I’ve seen it happen to a lot of my friends, I don’t know when it’s going to happen to me.”

Cabin crew member, make-up artist, and influencer Holly from Stafford hopes to find a normal lad to fall in love with.

The 23-year-old said: “I’ve had the odd person [celebrity] talk to me on Instagram. I know what they get up to 24/7. It’s not the sort of person I want to be involved with, I want to be with someone who works on a building site down the road that no one knows about. It’s just less hassle.”

She also said her career above the skies has not led to her joining the Mile High Club, saying: “I don’t know how people… the toilets are disgusting.”

Footballer and football coach Mamudo says he expects to fall in love at first sight – or it’s not going to work.

The 23-year-old said: “With me, I always say the first eye contact I make with a person I know straight away. The more we talk, the more conversation we have, the more we have in common will make it better.”

He also said he once tried to catch the attention of a music superstar: “I DM’d Rihanna five years ago. I check every now and again [to see if it got through]. She’ll reply soon…”

Sales Executive Robyn from Doncaster says she has given up on dating apps and prefers to meet lads in the flesh.

The 26-year-old said: “It was boring. Swiping through 100 guys at a time… I usually meet guys on a night out.”

And she hopes to find a football-mad lad to take her on her dream date, saying: “No-one’s taken me to Stamford Bridge to see Chelsea – that’d be the best date ever. It’d be great if my partner loved football.”

Bingo Hall worker Jess is hoping to find a lad who can thrill her and get her adrenaline pumping.

The 24-year-old from Newport, South Wales, said her best ever date was in the USA, revealing: “He worked at Universal Studios, I was working at Disney. We went on some rides. The conversation flowed.

“I am such an adrenaline junkie, the setting was perfect; we went on the rides, talked in the queues. Afterward we went to a karaoke bar, which I loved. Had a few drinks. It was brilliant.”

Waitress and fitness model Sarah is looking for a woman that would be a combination of Emma Watson and Megan Fox.

But the 26-year-old warns she has a wandering eye, explaining: “I did get screamed at once on a date as I looked at the waitress and got caught.”

Hailing from Blackpool, Sarah also has a high number of tattoos, but regrets some, revealing: “I’ve had seven names covered up on my a**e. I was only like 18… I did that as a bet.”

Tom is a 26-year-old business development manager from Leeds who can snowboard and fly a plane – but has limits to his hidden talents.

He explains: “I can snowboard quite well. And I learnt to fly a plane, a six-seater. I know how to take off… I don’t know how to land… so that’s chaos.”

He says he will go to great lengths to make dating the right girl work, explaining: “I dated a girl that lived in Ireland, I used to fly out every Monday and fly back every Wednesday to see her, every week for seven months.

"Once I got a completely new job to make it work with a girl. If I’m with someone I go above and beyond to make them happy. In my eyes everyone should be treated like a princess.”

Tattoo apprentice and model Sofia is looking forward to dating in a safe environment on The Cabins.

The 21-year-old from Kent discussed her worst past dates: “I’ve managed to set myself on fire, I slipped over in a massive public place, I walked out of the toilet with my dress stuck in my knickers – you name it and I’ve probably done it. They all end tragically and the common denominator is me.”

Explaining her flaming date further, she said: “There was a candelabra on the table. I dropped a spoon, so I leant down, I came back up and I’d set part of my sleeve and hair on fire. Instead of my date being like, ‘Oh my gosh, you’re on fire’, he just looked at me.

"I smelt the burning and was like, ‘Is something on fire?’ and then realised it was me. He didn’t tell me! If it’s going to happen with anyone, it usually happens to me. I think I just scare men off, I’m just quite accident prone.”

Mark Wright lookalike Will is an electrician from London who wouldn’t mind replicating the love-life success of his doppelgänger.

The 28-year-old said: “He’s with probably the hottest girl in the world, Michelle Keegan, she’s beautiful isn’t she?”

Explaining for the kind of date he is looking for, Will said: “I’m always known for being a joker, bit of a party boy, so I want someone who can have a laugh with me.”

Customer service expert Olivia is hoping The Cabins will give her the best date she’s ever had.

The 22-year-old from Hull said: “I’ve never had an amazing date. This will be the first. Whatever happens this will wow me regardless.”

She describes herself as: “A bit of a wild child. Really chaotic, my sister calls me. I do agree. I’m never quiet. The minute I open my eyes it’s just go, go, go.”

Welsh binman Joel hopes to find a long-term girlfriend – from outside his home town of Swansea.

The 22-year-old said he is: “Basically struggling to find someone in Swansea. I always say to my mum, I want to find someone outside of Swansea.”

He hopes to find a girl with manners to make his girlfriend, saying: “There was one girl [I dated] who was on the phone constantly. When I tried to make conversation with her she was constantly on her phone. I thought, that’s rude.”

While coffee company manager Charlotte is also looking to find her perfect woman on the new show.

The 29-year-old from Stafford said: “I’ve only been dating women for about 18 months. I feel like I’m still learning my type. I definitely like the more alternative girls. Tattoos, piercings… and more tomboy than really girly.”

With some tattoos of her own, Charlotte said: “I’ve got a world map on my back, because travelling is my thing. The outline of the whole world. I used to be cabin crew for four years. So I kind of travelled by doing that, all over the world. Hopefully I’m going to find somebody who wants to travel with me.”

The Cabins starts Monday January 4 at 9pm on ITV2
