After more than a year of waiting, the second and final series of The Spanish Princess has arrived. The new series features some fresh characters to tell the story of Catherine of Aragon. Who is in the cast of The Spanish Princess? Express.co.uk has everything you need to know.
Who is in the cast of The Spanish Princess season 2?
Catherine of Aragon – Charlotte Hope
Charlotte Hope is back as Catherine of Aragon in The Spanish Princess.
In the second series, Catherine of Aragon becomes the Princess of Wales through her marriage to Prince Arthur of Wales, before becoming Queen of England from June 1509 until May 1533.
She was previously the wife of King Henry VIII Arthur’s younger brother.
Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk ahead of the first series in 2019, executive producer Matthew Graham explained: “For Catherine, we looked actors from Spain, from England, America, Australia, Italy and Denmark and we made a decision that the best person for the job would get the job.
“It was obviously also important if possible she could look like Catherine and it was really nice because Charlotte bears a striking resemblance to Catherine.
“Catherine had very pale skin, blue eyes and auburn hair because she had English blood in her from John of Gaunt. She [Charlotte Hope] she brought a real fire, passion and vulnerability all at the same time you wouldn’t mess with her but also you could feel for her and empathise with her.”
Viewers will most likely recognise Hope from her role as Myranda in Game of Thrones and Philippa Hawking in the Stephen Hawking biopic, The Theory of Everything.
