Dutch cops nabbed a thief with 30 cell phones stuffed into his bike shorts at a Sum 41 concert, according to reports.
The 34-year-old pickpocket — believed to be part of a roving gang of thieves — was busted at the punk rockers’ Jan. 21 concert at the AFAS Live concert hall in Amsterdam, according to The Independent and BBC.
Fans of the Canadian rock band had alerted police that their phones had been lifted, and cops then blocked the exit until they found the suspect, the BBC said.
The unnamed Romanian national is set to appear in court later this week.
Amsterdam authorities were out in force to the Sum 41 concert after their colleagues in Belgium reported some 50 phones stolen during the same band’s gig in Antwerp a week earlier, The Independent reported.
Police lauded the Amsterdam arrest as an example of healthy cooperation between European authorities dealing with “mobile banditry,” according to the report.
The term refers to a type of organized crime carried out by gangs throughout Europe, including involving theft, robbery and burglary.
