US election 2020 LIVE – Will Donald Trump WIN second term as prediction gives him 7 point lead over Joe Biden in Iowa?

DONALD Trump's hopes of winning a second term as President have been given a dramatic boost after a new poll put him 7 points ahead in Iowa.

The respected Des Moines Register/Mediacom Iowa Poll released its latest results over the weekend, showing Trump ahead of Biden by 48% to 41% in the state.

More important, perhaps, is the suggestion that support for Biden has "faded" in recent days, hinting at the Democrats' worst fear that the former Vice President "isn't a closer" despite having had a strong lead all year.

In September the same poll showed support for the candidates at 47% each, so the new result shows a slight 1% boost for Trump but a catastrophic 6% decrease for Biden, with "other candidates" gaining the 5% difference.

It should be said, however, that due to the number of people polled in Iowa, a 5% margin of error is in place, meaning the new results could be anything from Trump falling between 43 and 53% and Biden between 36 and 46%.

Despite the boost for Trump in the swing state, Biden still leads national polls by 51% to 41% which, as things stand, still suggests a Biden victory is on the cards, regardless of the Iowa scare.

PUNTER PLACES £1M BET ON BIDEN TO WIN ELECTION

A punter has staked £1m on Joe Biden to win the 2020 US election at odds of 8/15, which returns £1,540,000 if he beats Donald Trump, the biggest bet of the election on Betfair Exchange

Betfair spokesperson Sam Rosbottom said: “Donald Trump’s odds have slightly improved this weekend to 15/8 but that has not deterred one punter from betting £1m on Joe Biden to win.

“The bet is the biggest political bet of all time on Betfair Exchange and returns a handsome £1,540,000 if Biden wins the keys to the White House.

“The 2016 US election’s record for being the biggest single betting event of all time was broken by this year’s contest last week and the £271m bet on the 2020 election means it remains on-course to hit £400m.”

n September, the same poll revealed Trump and Biden were dead level with 47 per cent each among prospective voters.

    BRACED FOR VIOLENCE

THE White House will be protected by a massive fence and hundreds of troops on election day, it was reported.

The barrier will be in place amid fears of violence across the United States should the poll result be disputed and Donald Trump’s opponents and his supporters take to the streets.

    HE WON'T REFUSE TO GO

Trump would need the support of the US military to attempt to stay in power, andScaramucci said that is just completely unrealistic – saying Trump is not “Hitler” or “Mussolini”.

And while there may be violence from Trump's most hardcore supporters, even this Mooch said was “unlikely”.

And he thinks Trump may not even want to stick around, as he doesn't think the President enjoys the “pain in the a**” of being in the White House.

    LEAVE QUIETLY

Anthony Scaramucci claimed Donald Trump will “go quietly” if he loses the election to Joe Biden as he actually “hates the f***ing job” of being President.

“The Mooch” – who spent 18 months working with Trump –   said he does not expect Trump to make good on hints he will try to stay in power if he loses.

The President has spent much of the campaign trail talking up the possibility of the election being rigged and refusing to commit to a peaceful transfer of power.

He has also hinted the election could be decided by the Supreme Court and urged GOP lawyers to start preparing a case.

Scaramucci however does not buy the outlandish forecasts of doomsday and civil war.

He told The Sun Online: “The odds are, he leaves and he leaves peacefully.”
