Anne Hathaway has been given a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The Oscar-winning actress was honoured at a ceremony on Hollywood Boulevard on 9 May 2019, surrounded by friends and colleagues.
Among them was Rebel Wilson, her co-star in the comedy The Hustle, which opened in US cinemas the following day. The two posed together for photographers at the ceremony, and director Dee Rees, who was working with Hathaway on her next drama, also attended.
A busy year
Hathaway told Variety that the honour came during a good year for her as an artist. The Hustle, a remake of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels with the leads recast as women, had pushed her out of her comfort zone, she said, because it required both a British accent and a lot of improvisation, neither of which came naturally to her.
She was also filming the Amazon anthology series Modern Love and the fantasy film The Witches, directed by Robert Zemeckis, and had made The Last Thing He Wanted with Rees, playing a reporter caught up in an arms deal while caring for her ailing father.
Time at home
In an interview with Shape the same month, Hathaway said that becoming a mother had changed how she plans her work. She said she now builds breaks into her year to spend time with her young son, and uses that time to cook, read and write more.
Hathaway rose to fame with The Princess Diaries in 2001 and went on to star in The Devil Wears Prada, Rachel Getting Married and Interstellar. She won the Academy Award for best supporting actress in 2013 for her role as Fantine in Les Misérables.
